G20 Summit Day 2

The G20 summit's second day, hosted under India's presidency in New Delhi, commenced with a spirit of unity and a commitment to sustainable global development. World leaders converged at Delhi's Raj Ghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi, laying wreaths at his Samadhi and filling the air with the melodies of his favorite hymns.

Following this solemn tribute, the leaders gathered at Bharat Mandapam for a Tree Planting Ceremony, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation. The day's agenda continued with the third session of the summit, "One Future," where discussions on critical global issues were held.

An exhibition tailored for the spouses of world leaders added a touch of cultural enrichment to the summit's proceedings.

Day 2 of the G20 Summit witnesses leaders paying tribute to Gandhi, embracing green initiatives, and adopting the historic Delhi Declaration for global unity and sustainable development.
Day 2 of the G20 Summit witnesses leaders paying tribute to Gandhi, embracing green initiatives, and adopting the historic Delhi Declaration for global unity and sustainable development.

On the previous day, the historic Delhi Declaration was adopted, unifying nations in their commitment to uphold international law, territorial integrity, and peace. The declaration paved the way for a green development pact for a sustainable future, endorsed principles for sustainable lifestyles, promoted hydrogen as a clean energy source, and focused on sustainable blue economies and food security.

What made this declaration unique was the unanimous consensus among all participating countries, including China and Russia, with no footnotes or Chair's Summary—a testament to the collective determination for global betterment.

In a significant move, the African Union was welcomed as a new permanent member of the G20, granting developing nations a more influential role in global decision-making.

This alliance, a priority during India's G20 Presidency, seeks to foster collaboration on biofuel development, notably among leading biofuel producers and consumers such as Brazil, India, and the United States.

Lastly, a mega India-Middle East-Europe shipping and railway connectivity corridor was announced on Day 1, a collaboration between India, the US, Saudi Arabia, and the European Union, promising to enhance connectivity and trade across continents.
