Aashiesh Sharrma shared his thoughts on Adipurush.

The movie Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, has faced a lot of criticism since it came out in theaters last week. Many senior actors like Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhlia, Sunil Lahri, Gajendra Chauhan, and Mukesh Khanna, among others, have strongly criticized the film. In addition, Aashiesh Sharma, who played Lord Ram on the TV show Siya Ke Ram, has called Adipurush a lazy attempt at retelling the story of Ramayana.

However, upon the movie's release in theaters, Aashiesh was deeply disappointed by the apparent absence of purpose and thorough research displayed by the Adipurush team. He voiced his dissatisfaction, stating that the film failed to meet the audience's expectations and this let down was even more disheartening when viewed through the lens of an actor.

Aashiesh Sharrma is not happy with Adipurush.

According to him, Adipurush seemed to be constructed from recycled WhatsApp messages, and it appeared as though the creators were attempting to capitalize on the current surge of Hindu sentiment in the country. He further commented that the film showcased a clear imitation of Western movies and their filmmaking techniques.

In his opinion, our filmmakers are burdened with feelings of inferiority and possess a mindset influenced by colonization. He believes that we carry a sense of shame when it comes to portraying our culture and society as they truly are, both in the past and present. Instead of embracing and celebrating our own heritage, we tend to imitate the Western approach to filmmaking, he expressed.

Aashiesh emphasized the importance of incorporating modern technology in filmmaking, but he stressed the need for telling an Indian story instead of presenting a Westernized adaptation. He expressed his belief that only a handful of filmmakers genuinely possess a rooted Indian perspective when it comes to our culture and society, making it challenging to find authentic content in the current landscape.

Meanwhile, the All India Cine Workers Association took action by writing a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Mumbai Police, urging them to register a case against the producer, director, and writer of Adipurush.

On Tuesday, the President of the Association, Gupta, penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging for an immediate prohibition of the film. Additionally, he called for the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against Om Raut, writer Manoj Muntasir Shukla, and the movie's producers.
